The Short AnSwer:
Cultivating Curiosity in Daily Living and
the Company we Keep while doing it
The longer answer:
Words have power understanding the meanings of them brings more depth to a message.
Curious: Eager to know or learn something
Strange; unusual
Living: To be alive
Company: the fact or condition of being with another or others, especially in a way that provides friendship and enjoyment.
To gather together in order to bring forth something
an organization of people and resources to create a product - sometimes for selling sometimes not.
These all come together for me into an idea of living a life that creates growth, fun and connection everyday.
Because some of my most favorite questions begin with i am curious about, I wonder, & What if...
I have always been of the curious sort. I like to know and understand. I love a good story. I genuinely like most people (as individuals). While many tout being self made, I do not believe that is truly possible. We are influenced, guided, and impacted by what we see, hear, and consume.
The movies and videos I watch, the books I read, the people I interact with even just to get my basic necessities, the relationships I form and foster (or neglect) are just some of the key parts that shape this life.
One of those parts was from an interview with Elizabeth Gilbert on the podcast On Being with Krista Tippet, “I think curiosity is our friend that teaches us how to become ourselves. And it’s a very gentle friend, and a very forgiving friend, a very constant one….Sometimes, following your curiosity will lead you to your passion. Sometimes it won’t; and then, guess what? That’s still totally fine. You’ve lived a life following your curiosity. You’ve created a life that is a very interesting thing, different from anybody else’s. And your life itself then becomes the work of art — not so much contingent upon what you produced, but about a certain spirit of being that, I think, is a lot more interesting, and also, a lot more sustainable.”
Exploring those things that make me curious feel like a roadside attraction on the endless road trip of a life time. I feel happy. I collect a little knowledge. I may have an emotional experience. I may have a photo for my review later among my memories. The moment may build into a great story that someone in the future may be curious about and I can share it. The information may be useful in a trivia night or a planning for future adventures. It is there waiting for the right moment.
And then again you may stumble into a major life shifting moment and walk on forever majorly changed.. Either way the adventure continues.
Everything is an exploratory adventure, the great british baking show – what is a the difference in the sugars compared to the US? Some may say this is ridiculous to stop and google information while watching shows, movies, or reading. To them I say ok. you don’t have to do it. This reaction lets me know these are not my people – the curious ones. I wish them happiness as they go about their way.
As a consequence I may say something I read somewhere once and not realize it and not provide correct attribution. That is not my intent. I am the sum of all the input and experiences I have had. I synthesize all the information in a way that makes sense to me. Sometimes exactly as I heard it and understood it originally. Sometimes filtered through a later lens with a whole new idea and understanding. This is life. This is living.
This site exist as a place for me to gather all sort of bits together and explore them. Hopefully in good company of other curious ones. Welcome to the adventure. May we laugh, grow, and enjoy ourselves along the way.
